5 Days Sirimon Route a route approaches Mount Kenya from the northwest. The summit trail leads to the main peaks at a distance of about 10 kilometers and an altitude of over 2,000 meters. It can be done in one day. The route requires no technical climbing.
Day 1: Old Moses Camp
You leave Nairobi at 7.30 am and transfer to Sirimon Park Gate (2660 m), the base of your Mt. Kenya trail. You will meet with your guides / porters and start your climb at 11 am. A 3-hour walk with lunch on the way will lead you to Old Moses Camp (3,300 m) on the edge of the mountainous forest where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Shiptons Camp
You leave the camp at 8.30 am and continue your hike through moorland (Teleki Valley) characterized by many varieties of senecia and lobelia to Shiptons Camp (4200 m). Lunch will be taken on the way. The 14km hike takes about 6 hours. The night will be spent at Shiptons Camp just below the 3 majestic peaks Batian, Nelion and Lenana.
Day 3: Peak Lenana
After an early morning breakfast at 4:00 am the trek leads via steep scree to Simba Cole. There will be a short rest before the final ascend of Point Lenana (4895 m) through rather rocky terrain. After watching the sunrise and taking the summit shots you return to Shiptons Camp for an early lunch. Another 4 hour-descend takes you back to Old Moses Camp for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 4: Descent
After breakfast you have one last glance at the majestic peaks you conquered before you proceed to Sirimon Park Gate where you bid farewell to the crew. Your driver will be waiting for you to take you back to Nairobi or your next destination.
