This tour is the ideal combination of experiencing South Africa’s wildlife, culture and scenery! From the hustle and bustle of Gauteng (the heartbeat of Africa) to the incredible wildlife experiences offered by the Kruger National Park on open game drive vehicles, to the culture and scenery of Cape Town, South Africa’s Mother City and the nearby Wine Region

Day 1: Highlights of Gauteng

Please book your international flight into Johannesburg to arrive in the morning in order to be able to join the tour of Johannesburg, the Apartheids Museum & Soweto which departs from your hotel 11h00. If this is not possible, we can book an additional night in Johannesburg for you if you wish. One of our representatives will meet you at the airport.
The tour will start at the house of Mohandas Ghandi from 1908 to 1909. Then to Houghton for a drive past the Mandela residence, our next stop is in Rivonia at Liliesleaf Farm, an intrinsic part of Madiba’s past. The next stop is the Rosebank African Art Market for shopping and lunch (excluded). From here on we visit the Apartheid’s Museum & then on to Soweto to see places like the FNB Stadium, the Diepkloof “Matchbox” houses, the Baragwanath Hospital, Walter Sisulu Square aka Freedom Square in Kliptown. From here we continue to the Hector Pieterson Museum and finally Vilakazi Street. After some pub-crawling we return to Outlook Lakefield.

Day 2: Gauteng to Kruger National Park

An early departure takes us through changing landscapes to the Kruger Park, where we start with lunch (excluded) on the banks of the Sabi River. After checking in, we depart on a SAN Parks sunset drive, which affords you the opportunity to see nocturnal animals that are more active at night. The Park’s rangers are allowed to return after the normal gate closing times. Note that these drives take place in one of the Kruger Park’s vehicles with a Park’s ranger. This is not a private game drive and there may be other guests on this drive. (Children under 6 are not allowed on the SANP vehicles and families will thus join the normal afternoon game drive. Private game drives for families are available by prior arrangement at an additional charge.)
A three course dinner is served al fresco at our private camp within Skukuza. Wine is served with dinner but guests are welcome to bring along alternative drinks which can be purchased at the shop.

Day 3: Full day in Kruger

Today is all about exploring the Kruger Park and experiencing wildlife at its best! We start with a morning game drive after tea, coffee & snacks. A substantial breakfast is served after the drive & you then have time to relax and explore the camp.
The afternoon drive departs after a light tea served in camp. Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings! Your guide has an intimate knowledge of the park, which contributes a great deal towards brilliant sightings!
Instead of the afternoon drive, you may opt to explore the Panorama Route visiting God’s window, Lisbon Falls and Three Rondavels. This tour departs directly after breakfast.
Share safari stories at the camp fire under the stars after a scrumptious dinner served in camp.

Day 4: Kruger to Cape Town

After a final game drive and breakfast, you will be transferred to Skukuza airport from where you fly to Cape Town.
On arrival at the Cape Town airport you will be met by one of our representatives who will take you to The Portswood Hotel, which is ideally situated at the V & A Waterfront.
The Waterfront is almost a destination on its own and offers loads of entertainment, over 80 restaurants and great shopping. Robben Island tours as well as boat cruises also depart from here.

Day 5: Cape Town City and Robben Island

Today’s full day tour starts with a ferry trip across the bay to Robben Island (Weather permitting). From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum. Includes the return ferry and tour of the island and prison,
We then explore the city with a drive through Bo-Kaap to discover the Malay influence, the food and aesthetics of this beautiful city and its people. We visit Table Mountain (cable way is weather permitting & tickets are thus excluded). Enjoy the panoramic views over the city, Robben Island and the Atlantic seaboard. We then walk through the Company Gardens, visit the SA Museum and the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa. We drive
past the Houses of Parliament, the Grand Parade and City Hall from where Nelson Mandela first addressed South Africans after his release in 1990.

Day 6: Cape Peninsula – Cape of Good Hope

This morning we explore the Cape Peninsula! This is an awe-inspiring tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point. Magnificent beaches, breath-taking views, historic and picturesque coastal villages are to be seen along the way. We travel along the Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton and Camps Bay and stop at a Llandudno look-out point before continuing to Hout Bay. Optional extra: Seal Island boat trip. On through Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breath-taking coastal drives, to Cape Point and the Good Hope Nature Reserve, which has magnificent fynbos vegetation, birdlife, endemic antelope species and zebra, historic lighthouses and shipwrecks. We go on to historic Simon’s Town where we visit a large penguin colony at the beautiful Boulders Beach. Boulders Penguin Colony is home to a growing colony of the vulnerable African Penguin.

Day 7: Wine Region

This morning you go on a tour of the Wine Region. Depending on your onward flight details, you may need to check out prior to the tour departing and will then be dropped off at CPT Airport after the tour.
This delightful drive winds its way to the heart of the Cape Winelands, through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. With the sheer vastness of wine estates on offer, we are truly spoilt for choice. Enjoy two wine tastings in this historical and picturesque region.
Return to the bustle of city life after an enthralling day in the countryside, arriving back at the hotels at approximately 13:30.
Depending on your onward flight, you will be transferred to Cape Town Airport at the prearranged time for your onward travel plans.

Onward flights and additional tour options are available on request. Guests with earlier flights, can join this activity on the afternoon of Day 6.
