Mount Kilimanjaro Marangu Route 5 Days
Mount Kilimanjaro Marangu Route 5 Days Itinerary, has a gradual parts, which making it less difficult to Trek. It is the most popular route on Mt. Kilimanjaro, and is the only route with emergency evacuation service. Also, it is the only route with huts, having dormitory and simple dining rooms with water taps.
Drive from Arusha to Marangu Gate Day 1
Day one Mt. Kilimanjaro Trek begins as soon as you reach the gate where you will ascend 8 km from the gate passing through montane forest habitat from an elevation of 1860 m to 2700 m. Taking you about 3-4 hours to reach the Mandara hut as your first stop and it’s where you will have dinner and overnight.
Mandara Huts to Horombo Huts Day 2
In the morning we will have breakfast in the hut then we will continue with trekking moving from an elevation of 2700 m to 3700 m, which is 12 km distance passing through heath land habitat. This takes about 5-6 hours to reach the Horombo hut where you will have dinner and overnight in the evening.
DAY 3: Horombo Huts to Kibo Huts
After breakfast we will proceed from our last destination 9 km ahead, which is from a height of 3700 m to 4700 m taking you about 5-6 hours to reach the Kibo hut. Passing through alpine desert habitat, in the hut you will have dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: Kibo Huts to Uhuru Peak
As soon as you take your breakfast you will hike from 4700 m to 5895 m, to the summit of Kilimanjaro Mountain which is total distance of 6 km. You will stay for some minutes then descend to 3700 m covering a total distance of 15 km through Alpine desert. This will take you at most 6-8 both moving up and down, your destination will be at the Horombo hut where you will have dinner and overnight.
The end of Mount Kilimanjaro Marangu Route 5 Days
Day 5: Horombo Huts to the Park Gate
On this day you will have breakfast at the hut then descend 20 km from the hut to an elevation of 1700 m, reaching the gate after 4-5 hours. At the gate you will be given your trekking certificate then celebrate the success with your crew without forgetting to tip your porters. Then you will be transferred back to your hotel in Arusha which will be the end of your Tanzania Trekking Package.
